Write for us
Local Public Review welcomes thoughtful pitches about shared places and the customs that make local public life distinctive. Send proposals through the Contact page; a clear subject and a well-defined point of view matter more than a grand claim.
What we welcome
Pitch essays and explainers about common ground, public rooms, local customs, civic signs or shared edges. Strong ideas reveal a specific detail or question, then show why it helps readers understand a place. We welcome original approaches that do not depend on specialist advice, local rule-checking or claims of firsthand access.
A useful pitch
Tell us the proposed subject, the central idea and what a reader will be able to notice or understand. Name the likely scope, explain why the topic suits Local Public Review, and mention any sources or images you expect to use. Keep the proposal concise and avoid sending a finished piece unless requested.
How to send it
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option, making clear that your message is a pitch. Do not include confidential material or claim access to people or places you do not have. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and we may ask questions before considering a draft.
A place is more than its buildings.
Look at how people meet, pause and take part, and the character of a place begins to show.
