Local Public Review

Editorial policy

Local Public Review aims to make its observations clear, fair and useful. We explain what a piece is based on, distinguish description from judgement and make changes openly when the record needs setting right.

Accuracy and context

We check names, descriptions and factual claims against suitable material before publication, and take care not to present an interpretation as settled fact. Where a subject varies from place to place, we say so rather than imply one account fits every community. We do not invent sources, experiences or credentials.

Independence

Editorial decisions belong to the publication. A contribution, collaboration or commercial relationship does not buy favourable coverage, and partners do not approve independent editorial work. We aim to describe the limits of what a piece can establish as plainly as its central point.

Corrections

If you spot an error, use the Contact page and tell us what appears wrong and where it occurs. We review correction requests and amend material when warranted. Substantive changes should be made clear to readers; minor edits for spelling or clarity may not need a separate note.

Partnerships and illustrations

Material created with a partner, and partner placements, are labelled so readers can distinguish them from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where that applies, the image is identified accordingly. Illustrations are not presented as documentary evidence.

Our point of view

A place is more than its buildings.

Look at how people meet, pause and take part, and the character of a place begins to show.
